Overview

The Security Guard will be responsible for ensuring the security of the warehouse/distribution center and the things and people in it.  The goal of this position is to detect, deter, observe, and report. 

Responsibilities/Qualifications

The Security Guard key responsibilities include: 

  • Using and monitoring surveillance/camera equipment.
  • Keeping a record of all visitors including the time of arrival and departure.
  • Patrolling the premises regularly to ensure nothing is out of place.
  • Performing scheduled and random checks of designated areas throughout the facility to check for any security breaches.
  • Assisting the maintenance staff in security an area during a maintenance emergency.
  • Protecting the company’s property and staff by maintaining a safe and secure environment.
  • Responding to alarms within the warehouse.
  • Observing and reporting suspicious activities and persons.
  • Coordinating with law enforcement in the case of suspected or reported criminal activity.
  • Following directions of supervisor and manager.
  • Assisting with compliance of company, local, state, and federal safety directives.
  • Answering the phone and tracking all yard management services (trucks and deliveries).
  • Keeping an eye on the entrance and exits to prevent theft and ensure workplace security.
  • Monitoring Win-Pak system and creating badges for temporary employees and new hires and deactivating badges for terminated team members.
  • Assigning lockers and issuing locks to team members.
  • Issuing and controling all radios that are signed out to team members.
  • Performing bag checks whenever team members are leaving the building.
  • Ensuring company pets are fed once per shift and have water.

Security Guard requirements include:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous security experience a preferred.
  • Quick thinking/assessment and problem-solving skills including people and surroundings.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of standard security and safety protocols.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Solid verbal and written communication.
  • Listening skills.
  • Willingness to learn and enforce safety procedures.
  • Comfort with directing people or performing leadership responsibilities.
  • Ability to operate emergency equipment and camera/surveillance equipment.
  • Ability to work well in a team.
  • Ability to work in high-pressure environment.
