Inventory Staff Accountant (Hybrid Role M-W in office)

The Inventory Staff Accountant is responsible for assisting with physical inventory upload and reconciliation, responding to inventory inquiries and tickets, and performing other accounting responsibilities as assigned. This position will help manage the day-to-day operations of Inventory Control in the stores and perform select accounting tasks for corporate stores. Involvement in the month-end close process as well as presentation of analysis to management is expected.

The Inventory Staff Accountant's key responsibilities include:

Perform various accounting responsibilities in support of perpetual inventory accuracy (40%)

• Prepare the physical inventory upload and shrink analysis for assigned corporate stores during our Spring/Fall counting cycles
• Assist with scheduling of corporate store physical inventories
• Assist store operations with generation of shrink analysis including actionable focus areas
• Analyze quick count data to ensure corporate stores are compliant with the requirements to drive more accurate perpetual inventory values
• Provide physical inventory upload assistance to franchise stores as assigned
• Report physical inventory results to Operation and Finance leadership
• Maintain and review analysis to ensure adequate inventory reserves are recorded in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles

Perform various accounting responsibilities in support of general accounting (30%)

• Perform monthly review of store profit and loss statements and research and resolve unusual items for assigned stores
• Perform balance sheet account reconciliations for assigned accounts
• Prepare and book monthly journal entries
• Perform other accounting responsibilities as assigned

Research and respond to stores’ inventory needs (30%)

• Review and respond to inventory related service desk tickets on assigned weeks
• Monitor the inventory control email box on assigned weeks

PAWsome Inventory Staff Accountant candidates will have: 

• Bachelors’ degree in Finance or Accounting is required. Working towards certification or advanced degree (e.g., CPA, CMA, MBA, etc.) is preferred
• 1-3 years of experience in public or corporate accounting. Inventory related experience a plus
• Detail oriented, accurate, flexible, and able to work in a dynamic team-centric environment
• Results-driven and possesses strong analytical skills
• Proactive and confident in communication
• Ability to build relationships cross-functionally to drive attainment of goals and objectives
• Able to manage priorities and time effectively
• Experience with ERP systems and proficient in Microsoft Office applications
