Vice President - Merchandising

POSITION SUMMARY

The Vice President of Merchandising, reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, will lead the Private Label, Hardgoods, Specialty and Live categories at PSP Group for both our, Pet Supplies Plus and Wag N Wash brands, for all corporate owned and franchised locations.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Merchandising Strategy: Provide thought leadership, combining vision with the ability to embed business planning and sourcing strategy to drive sales and optimize investment through great hard goods, private label, and specialty animal assortment.
• Pet Partner Relations: Develop and maintain strong relationships with vendors to ensure the best terms and conditions for our products.
• Pet Partner Funding: Secure vendor funding and negotiate favorable terms to support our merchandising initiatives.
• Private Label Sales: Develop and lead the sales strategy and performance of private label hardgoods and consumable products.
• Private Label Brand and Portfolio Development: Lead the development and expansion of our private label brand, ensuring it optimizes market trends and drives business growth.
• Sourcing: Identify and source high-quality products that align with our brand values and Neighbor expectations.
• Team Leadership: Lead and mentor Merchandising leaders responsible for private label, branded hard goods and live animal.

Position Requirements

• BA/BS in Business or related field is required.
• 10 years’ minimum experience leading and executing merchandising strategies and programs including branded and private label products.
• Demonstrated financial impact of those strategies and programs.
• Proven experience developing strong internal and external customer and vendor relationships.
• Analytically savvy with experience leveraging research, customer insights and analytics in developing and measuring merchandising programs.
• Possess creative skills and thought leadership with ability to stimulate, capture, and execute upon innovative ideas.
• Strong project management and execution skills.
• Excellent communication and presentations skills to influence results and articulate recommendations.
• Demonstrated abilities to work collaboratively across multi-functional Must understand the demands of the store, franchisee, and field organization plus champion initiatives to better serve those who directly serve the customer.
• Understands marketing and merchandising processes and the interrelationships of buying, marketing, in-store presentation and selling functions.
• Successful experience operating in a lean environment where strong focus and prioritization are critical to attainment of company-wide goals.
• Must understand trends, needs and obstacles experienced in respective lines of business.
• Builder and mentor of high performing teams.
• A love of animals a must, and prior experience with pet or enthusiast brands a plus.
