Role Overview:

The SSIS and MS SQL Developer role includes SSIS ETL, Database development work and data analysis tasks involved with development and support of analytical applications, specifically SSIS, MS SQL Server, PowerBI and Azure Machine Learning. You will assist and/or be responsible for managing the design and development of our Marketing databases by writing SQL procedures, creating SSIS ETL workflows, create and maintain tables, and modify our existing reports and systems as needed. This position may work in a hybrid space at our office in Livonia, MI or fully remote.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develop the Marketing CRM database (MS SQL server based) by writing SQL procedures, creating tables and by building SSIS ETL workflows.
  • Drive the analysis, design, and development of databases and SSIS ETL work.
  • Develop SSIS Workflows to ingest, track and log Flat File Data movement effectively.
  • Create technical design specifications, database alerts, troubleshoot and resolve technical issues, debug, tune and optimize database performance.
  • Write procedures and SQL rules to clean up data.
  • Develop workflows and procedures to automate the data load from multiple source systems and create alerts to trigger the status of the jobs.
  • Modify the SQL of the existing PowerBI reports and write queries to create new metrics.
  • Contribute to team discussions presenting ideas, sharing knowledge, and listening to other’s ideas.
  • Assist in the development of Machine Learning algorithms, Power BI Dashboards, Tabular Data Models & other items to enhance Marketing strategies and programs.
  • Produce appropriate inline and external documentation for processes.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science or Engineering or appropriate experience.
  • 2+ years of experience in Database development and Data analysis which includes:
    • Excellent knowledge of developing ETL workflows using tools such as SSIS.
    • Strong experience in writing SQL queries on top of different data sets.
    • Thorough knowledge of creating stored procedures, tables, views, functions and other data objects in MS SQL Server.
    • Working experience in data modeling and data warehousing.
  • Ability to translate business requirements to SQL and to reporting objects.
  • 2+ years of experience in designing and delivering data integration/data warehousing solutions using tools like SSIS.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills; ability to convey ideas, problems, and issues to both business and technical teams.
  • Strong organizational skills that allow the individual to handle multiple tasks while being extremely detail oriented.
  • Must be customer focused and have experience in handling customer concerns.
  • Microsoft Azure experience a plus
  • Responsys Campaign Platform and/or Crowd Twist Loyalty Platform experience a plus
  • Previous work experience with Retail Industry is a plus.
  • Exposure to Machine Learning/Predictive Modeling is a plus
  • Marketing Data Warehousing experience is a plus
